OhioHealth Supports New Mobile Health Locator App

A new digital tool is making it easier for central Ohio residents to find and access quality health care—right in their own neighborhoods.
The Central Ohio Mobile Consortium (COMC) is a partnership of ten local entities and health organizations, which includes OhioHealth. Earlier this spring, COMC launched a new app called the Mobile Health Locater app – designed to connect patients to their nearest mobile health care unit.
Mobile health care units work very similar to a traditional doctor’s office – offering a wide range of services from checkups and vaccinations to mental health support. The goal is to help remove barriers by bringing important health services directly to local neighborhoods.
“We are thrilled to be a part of the COMC and to contribute to the launch of the Mobile Health Locator app,” said Rebecca Barbeau, director of OhioHealth Community Health Partnerships. “This innovative tool will significantly enhance access to health care services for residents across central Ohio. At OhioHealth, we are committed to improving community health and addressing health care gaps.”
The app allows users to search and filter by date, location, health service needed, and insurance type. Patients can schedule an appointment or see if walk-ins are accepted. Services available through mobile units include:
– Sick visits
– Vaccinations
– Blood work
– Sports physicals
– Mental health care
– Maternal prenatal care
– Referrals to specialists
– Urgent care and more
Each mobile unit is staffed by trusted medical professionals from participating organizations. Since individual units may offer different services and accept different insurance types, patients are encouraged to carefully review the listings before booking.
The project grew out of the collaborative spirit that emerged during the COVID-19 pandemic, when mobile care providers banded together to deliver critical services to underserved populations.
To download the free app, search “Mobile Health Locator” in the Google Play or the Apple App stores.
